We are carnivores and herbivores, soccer players and cyclists, ranchers and city folk. We speak almost as many languages as we code. We have our heads in point clouds and love discussing sci-fi, quaternions, user stories, MVPs, and valuations. You might find us reading Asimov, Steinbeck, Altman, or Thiel. We help each other out, grill out with each other’s families, and remember that their dog’s name is Molson (hmmm, what a good name for a repo). We love what we do and who we do it for. We work hard. There is troubleshooting, problem solving, and sprinting to the finish to make delivery deadlines. We travel to install robots in fulfillment centers, distribution centers, and warehouses; visit vendors, suppliers and collaborators; attend conferences and tradeshows. There are huddles, presentations, meetings, and “Hey, could you look at this bug?” We subdue bits and atoms and milliseconds. Nothing happens by accident. Then there is elation when everything finally works just the way we pictured it.
Does Plus One offer benefits? Sure: Amazing people, robot playground, buckets of data (for you AI aficionados), “eclectic” office furniture… Oh, the actual benefits? Yes, those. They’re great too:
